A new name joins the 12punto writing staff: Assoc. Prof. Dr. Ergül Halisçelik

Assoc. Prof. Dr. Ergül Halisçelik has joined 12punto's respected team of writers. With his deep expertise in economics and politics, Halisçelik will address readers who closely follow Turkey's agenda with his columns.

Having served as a Chief Treasury Controller at the Ministry of Treasury and Finance for 22 years, Halisçelik will share his experience in the field of economics with readers.

Assoc. Prof. Dr. Halisçelik continued his career, which he began at the Board of Treasury Controllers in 1997, as a Treasury Controller in 2001 and as a Chief Treasury Controller in 2008.

He completed an important training program at The Institute of Chartered Accountants of Scotland between January and April 2002 to receive training in the field of International Auditing and Accounting Standards.

He specialized by attending training sessions in many different fields such as internal auditing, European Union regulations, risk management, and independent auditing both domestically and abroad.

Halisçelik, who undertook the role of Founding President of the Carnegie Mellon University Alumni Association, also conducted significant studies in the field of public finance with his doctoral thesis completed at Hacettepe University.

Drawing attention with his empirical studies on "Millennium Development Goals and Pro-Poor Growth," Halisçelik received the title of associate professor in the field of macroeconomics from the Interuniversity Council of the Republic of Turkey in 2022.

Having taught as a part-time lecturer at many universities abroad and in our country, Halisçelik served as Secretary General at the Adana Metropolitan Municipality between 2019 and 2024, and currently continues his duty as Secretary General at the Bursa Metropolitan Municipality.
