It was learned that the suspects were apprehended as part of an investigation into money laundering. The suspects were taken to the Public Security Branch Directorate.
On the other hand, it was reported that another person named Hacı İsrafil S. is also in custody along with the duo.

Birgün columnist Timur Soykan had written that, according to a criminal complaint filed with the Istanbul Chief Public Prosecutor's Office, sisters Bahar and Nihal Candan were members of a criminal organization that defrauded many people using the "Sazan Sarmalı" (Carp Spiral) method.
In the criminal complaint, it was alleged that Nihal Candan was the girlfriend of the gang leader and that she and Bahar Candan were the secret treasurers of the organization.
