Confession from Director Lara Kamhi 19 Years Later: "I Was Subjected to Violence"

Lara Kamhi, the daughter of prominent socialites Cefi and Yasemin Kamhi, revealed the violence she was subjected to 19 years ago on her social media account.

"YES, PERHAPS IT IS THE RIGHT TIME"

Stating that she was subjected to violence by her then-boyfriend Volkan Büyükhanlı 19 years ago, Lara Kamhi shared the following in a statement on her social media account:

"Yes, perhaps it is the right time. While everyone is airing their grievances, it will either get lost in the shuffle or become gossip, but let it come from me. I am 19 years old, I have been away from my sister for years and have finally come to Turkey, but there is a large age gap, and she doesn't spend time with me. The person he is married to now was his girlfriend at the time. A close friend of his girlfriend likes me. During the few months we spent together, I learn that this person has a drug addiction, and I break up with him."

"HE APPLIED VIOLENCE FOR 4 HOURS"

"He swears he will never touch me again, and I give him a second chance. Meanwhile, I am making music on the side, going to studios. One day, the person I work with sends me a message saying, 'listening to you was like looking at the sun.' He sees this message first, throws the phone at my head, makes me call my mother to say 'I'm home,' breaks my phone, locks the doors, pulls down the shutters, and applies violence for 4 hours. He tries to kill me by strangling me repeatedly. Somehow, he convinces me, and I escape. The result is a deformed face, a broken arm, a brain trauma, and a dislocated jaw."

"HE TOOK THE INCIDENT TO AN ABSURD LEVEL AND HAD ME STONED"

"The press of that period, without looking at my age or what I had been through, wrote terrible news, took the incident to an absurd level, and had me stoned by the public. My family did not let me file a complaint so that the matter would not grow any further. The subject was never brought up again. Today, as a result of this impunity, this person is accepted in his circle as an 'exemplary human' who receives applause in public, but do you know what the worst part is? Everyone knows about these events. What followed is even worse, but I don't have the strength to tell that much today. I won't even mention the name of the person in question."
