Famous actor Gerard Depardieu gives statement over harassment allegations

Gerard Depardieu, one of the well-known actors of French cinema, was questioned by police due to sexual assault and harassment accusations directed at him.

Sources from the French police speaking to the Reuters news agency stated that Depardieu was questioned on the grounds that he sexually assaulted two different women on two separate sets.

Depardieu's lawyer, who has faced many accusations in recent years, said his client did nothing wrong.

Two senior police officers speaking to the agency stated that Depardieu was taken to a police station in the 14th arrondissement of the French capital, Paris, and was questioned there.

BEING QUESTIONED REGARDING TWO SEPARATE INCIDENTS

Sources who did not disclose their names said that Depardieu was being questioned regarding two separate incidents in 2014 and 2021. Depardieu has divided France.

Following many harassment allegations that have emerged about him in recent years, while many activists have come forward demanding the famous actor be put on trial, some high-level figures, including French President Emmanuel Macron, have claimed that Depardieu is innocent.
