Alarming warning from the Meteorological Service! The first major weather wave of 2025 is coming: 'Conditions are getting tougher'
The General Directorate of Meteorology has issued warnings for the Marmara, Aegean, Western Mediterranean, and Central Anatolia regions for January 14. While rain, sleet, and snow are expected, there are warnings for heavy rainfall in the coastal Aegean and the western districts of Balıkesir, as well as an avalanche risk in Eastern Anatolia. According to the forecasts of the General Directorate of Meteorology, partly to very cloudy weather will be effective across the country. Intermittent precipitation is expected in the Marmara, Aegean, Western Mediterranean, Western and Central Black Sea regions, and the coasts of the Eastern Black Sea.
The precipitation will be in the form of sleet and snow in Thrace and the interior parts of the Western Black Sea.
HEAVY RAINFALL EXPECTED IN COASTAL AEGEAN AND BALIKESİR
Regions under a heavy rainfall warning include the coastal Aegean, the western districts of Balıkesir, and the surroundings of Denizli. Citizens have been urged to be cautious against floods, inundations, and potential disruptions in transportation.
AVALANCHE AND FROST DANGER
There is an avalanche danger in the interior parts of the Eastern Black Sea and on the steep slopes of Eastern Anatolia. Furthermore, icing and frost events are expected in the interior and eastern parts of the country. Drivers and local residents have been warned to be careful.
AIR TEMPERATURES AND WIND DETAILS
Air temperatures are expected to decrease by 4 to 6 degrees in the Central Black Sea, while they are not expected to show significant changes in other regions and will generally remain above seasonal norms. The wind will blow strongly (40-60 km/h) from the north and northeast on the coasts of Marmara and the Northern Aegean.
IMPORTANT WARNINGS FROM THE METEOROLOGICAL SERVICE
Heavy Rainfall Warning: Heavy rainfall is expected in the coastal Aegean, the western districts of Balıkesir, and the surroundings of Denizli. Precautions should be taken against floods and inundations.
Strong Wind Warning: The wind will blow at speeds that could disrupt transportation on the coasts of Marmara and the Northern Aegean.
Avalanche and Frost Warning: There is an avalanche risk in the high regions of the Eastern Black Sea and Eastern Anatolia. Icing and frost events will be observed in the interior and eastern parts.

Istanbul: 8°C, intermittent rain and showers.
Kırklareli: 2°C, sleet and snowfall.

Aegean Region: Showers and strong wind effective
Very cloudy weather will generally prevail in the Aegean Region.

Denizli: 15°C, heavy showers in the evening hours.
Izmir: 13°C, locally heavy showers.
Muğla: 11°C, locally heavy rain expected.
The wind is expected to blow from the north at 40-60 km/h in the coastal Aegean.
Mediterranean Region: Showers and fog warning
Partly to very cloudy weather is expected in the Mediterranean Region.
Adana: 22°C, partly cloudy.
Antalya: 18°C, intermittent showers.
Hatay: 18°C, partly cloudy.
Mersin: 21°C, partly cloudy.
It was stated that haze and local fog could be seen in the interior parts of the region during the morning and night hours.
Central Anatolia: Sleet and Icing Risk
Intermittent precipitation is expected in the northwestern parts of the Central Anatolia Region and the surroundings of Yozgat.
Ankara: 10°C, intermittent rain and showers.
Eskişehir: 5°C, intermittent rain and showers.
Konya: 11°C, partly to very cloudy.
Sivas: 9°C, partly to very cloudy.
Icing, frost, and local fog will be effective in the region during the morning and night hours.
Black Sea Region: Precipitation and avalanche warning
Rain is expected on the coasts of the Western Black Sea, and sleet is expected in the interior parts.
Bolu: 4°C, sleet and snowfall.
Düzce: 8°C, rainy.
Sinop: 8°C, rainy in the morning hours.
Zonguldak: 8°C, intermittent rain.
In the Central and Eastern Black Sea:
Amasya: 8°C, intermittent rain.
Artvin: 9°C, rainy on the coasts.
Samsun: 8°C, intermittent rain.
Trabzon: 10°C, intermittent rain and showers.
There is an avalanche danger in the high parts of the Eastern Black Sea.
Eastern Anatolia: Beware of avalanche and frost danger
Partly and locally very cloudy weather is expected throughout the Eastern Anatolia Region.
Erzurum: -1°C, very cloudy.
Kars: -2°C, very cloudy.
Malatya: 4°C, partly cloudy.
Van: 5°C, partly cloudy.
A warning was issued against the avalanche danger in the high parts of the region.
Southeastern Anatolia: Partly cloudy and foggy
Haze and fog are expected in the Southeastern Anatolia Region during the morning and night hours.
Diyarbakır: 13°C, partly cloudy.
Gaziantep: 15°C, partly and slightly cloudy.
Siirt: 12°C, partly cloudy.
Şanlıurfa: 17°C, partly and slightly cloudy.
STORM WARNING AT SEA
The Meteorological Service also issued warnings for weather conditions at sea:
A storm is expected in the Northern Aegean and Marmara,
A gale-force wind is expected in the Western Black Sea.
