Meteorology issues heavy rain and lodos warning ahead of the holiday

The General Directorate of Meteorology has issued a warning for heavy rain and thunderstorms in the Marmara, Aegean, Mediterranean, and western parts of Central Anatolia. While strong lodos (southwesterly winds) are expected to be effective, the Bursa Governor's Office has also warned citizens due to the heavy rain and storms.

As Turkey prepares for the Ramadan Feast, a warning for heavy rain and strong winds has been issued by the Meteorology department. According to the latest forecasts, thunderstorms will be effective in Marmara, the Aegean, the Mediterranean, and the western part of Central Anatolia. Strong lodos winds are also expected. Air temperatures will continue to remain above seasonal norms. The Bursa Governor's Office has also issued a warning for storms and heavy rain.

WHERE WILL THE HEAVY RAIN BE EFFECTIVE?

According to meteorological data, the rainfall is expected to be heavy in the south of Marmara and the inland parts of the Aegean.

According to the forecasts made by the General Directorate of Meteorology: The country overall is expected to be partly to very cloudy, with showers and thunderstorms expected in Marmara, the Aegean, the Western Mediterranean, the northwest of Central Anatolia, the west of the Western Black Sea, and the surroundings of Bayburt, Erzincan, Tunceli, Bingöl, Diyarbakır, and Batman. The rainfall is expected to be locally heavy in the afternoon in the surroundings of Çanakkale, Balıkesir, Bursa, Manisa, Uşak, and Kütahya, as well as in the northern districts of İzmir and Denizli.

WHAT WILL THE AIR TEMPERATURES BE LIKE?

Air temperatures are expected to continue to remain above seasonal norms across Turkey. The wind is expected to blow generally from southern directions, light to occasionally moderate, and is expected to be strong and in the form of short-term storms (40-70 km/h) in the Inner Aegean, the inland parts of the Mediterranean, the south and west of Central Anatolia, and the western parts of the Western Black Sea.

STORM WARNING FROM THE BURSA GOVERNOR'S OFFICE

The Bursa Governor's Office stated on its website and social media account that severe rain and storms will be effective, and warned its citizens against flash floods, inundation, and lightning strikes.
