Statements from the Meteorology Department, AKOM, and the Istanbul Governor's Office have issued warnings regarding the snowfall and cold weather that will grip the city in the coming days.
According to a written statement from the Istanbul Governor's Office, air temperatures in Istanbul will drop significantly starting Tuesday, February 4.
WHEN WILL SNOW ARRIVE IN ISTANBUL?
According to meteorological data, temperatures will decrease by 6 to 12 degrees on Wednesday, February 5, falling below seasonal norms across Istanbul.
Starting Tuesday in Istanbul, the lowest temperature will be around 2 degrees, and the highest temperature will be around 5 degrees.
The cold weather, accompanied by strong winds expected to blow from the north, will continue for one week.
STATEMENT FROM METEOROLOGY AND THE GOVERNOR'S OFFICE
Statements from the Meteorology Department and the Istanbul Governor's Office indicated that sleet and snowfall will be seen in the city. It was stated that during this period, snowfall may intensify in some areas, and icing and frost events may occur. Citizens have been warned to be careful and take precautions against these adverse weather conditions.
AKOM, affiliated with the Istanbul Metropolitan Municipality, also issued warnings regarding the weather in the city. According to AKOM's weekly weather forecast report, 1-3 centimeters of snowfall is expected across Istanbul on Wednesday, and 10-20 centimeters on Thursday.

Furthermore, it is estimated that icing and frost events may occur as temperatures drop rapidly.
In the latest assessment made by the General Directorate of Meteorology (MGM), a warning was issued to be careful and take precautions against potential negative consequences, as haze and occasional fog are expected in the Marmara region as well as in the interior and eastern regions during the morning and night hours today.
