Good news for couples getting married in this municipality: Now provided free of charge

A social support program aimed at young couples struggling with the rising costs of marriage has been launched in İzmir. As part of the "Marriage Support Project," the İzmir Metropolitan Municipality is providing wedding dresses and suits, as well as home textile products, free of charge.

Through a collaboration, new or very lightly used wedding dresses and suits obtained from the Mimar Kemalettin Fashion Center Association are evaluated by a special team and delivered to those in need. Thanks to the newly added home textile support, the municipality has also included basic necessities such as bed linen sets and towels in the aid package. Home textile products can be obtained from various municipal support points without paying any fees.

To benefit from the aid, certain criteria must be met. Couples who reside in İzmir and are registered as being in need in the Social Assistance Tracking System (SYTS), or those who can document this status during the application process, can benefit from the project. Applications are accepted via the municipality's "bizvariz.izmir.bel.tr" website or at "Solidarity and Consultation Points" located in different parts of the city. After the application process is completed, an evaluation is conducted by social workers. Couples deemed eligible are invited to the center in Gürçeşme, where they can choose the items they want.

Couples who come to the center, which was specially established in Gürçeşme alongside the consultation and clothing point, can try on models and products in a store-like environment and make their own choices. While the goal is for the application to create a wide service network in the city, Sultan Tut, Branch Manager of Social Services at the İzmir Metropolitan Municipality, stated that they are "continuing efforts to further expand the service network" and encouraged all couples experiencing financial difficulties to apply.

With this practice, the municipality contributes to the wedding expenses of young people while also supporting the culture of social solidarity and mutual aid.
