Halit Ziya Uşaklıgil's 'Aşk-ı Memnu' takes Italy by storm

The book, which explores the forbidden love between Bihter and Behlül, the nephew of her husband Adnan, in the shadow of a marriage of convenience between the young, beautiful Bihter and the elderly, wealthy widower Adnan, has drawn significant attention in the country.

Published by Altaro Publishing and translated by Cristiano Bedin, the book was translated into Italian partly due to the success of the Aşk-ı Memnu television series.

Regarded as a classic that bridges Western literature with Turkish literature, Aşk-ı Memnu maintains a compelling pace.

The book, which includes psychological analyses examining the inner worlds of the characters, never grows old.
