The Iraqi Ministry of Interior announced that the attack on Fahad took place yesterday (Friday, April 26) in Baghdad.
In a statement, the ministry said, "The Ministry of Interior has established a special task force to investigate the killing of a woman known on social media by unidentified individuals in the Zayouna district of the capital, Baghdad."
The ministry stated that reports in local media claiming the perpetrator had been detained were incorrect and that the investigation is still ongoing.
SHE HAD RECEIVED A 6-MONTH PRISON SENTENCE
Eyewitnesses stated that Om Fahad was killed with a firearm by a person on a motorcycle while she was inside her vehicle in front of her home.
Fahad had been sentenced to 6 months in prison last year for sharing videos deemed inconsistent with 'public morality'.
Local press highlighted that there was tension between Om Fahad and another social media influencer, Dalia Naeem.
Dalia Naeem was known as the Iraqi Barbie due to the cosmetic surgeries she had undergone.
