Millionaire heiress looking for 50 people to distribute her fortune

Marlene Engelhorn, an Austrian millionaire and the great-granddaughter of Friedrich Engelhorn, the founder of the Germany-based chemical company BASF, has decided to distribute the 25 million euros she inherited from her grandmother, Traudl Engelhorn-Vechiatto.

However, she will not be the one doing it; 50 people she selects will distribute the massive fortune.

Earlier this week, 10,000 people who applied to the Council were randomly selected, and 50 were chosen through an elimination process.

The 50 finalists were asked to write a letter explaining their views on how the inheritance should be used.

These individuals selected to distribute the inheritance will receive 1,200 Euros (approximately 40,000 TL) for every weekend they participate. Childcare and translation services will also be provided to those in need.

The main heiress of the fortune, Engelhorn, believes that the discussions among the 50 selected people will 'serve democracy.'

Explaining how the system will work, Engelhorn said, "I have no veto power. I am placing my assets at the disposal of these 50 people, and I trust them."

"If they cannot do their job and distribute the wealth, then I will have to donate my fortune myself. Many people struggle to make ends meet by working full-time jobs and pay taxes on every euro they earn through their labor.
