More education means a longer and healthier life!

Researchers from Columbia University, in a study titled "Framingham Heart Study", analyzed data from 14,106 participants across 3 generations since 1948 to examine the effects of education on aging. This study found that children achieving a higher level of education than their parents can be associated with slower aging.

The researchers used a method based on DNA analysis to calculate the participants' pace of aging. Comparing the education levels of children with those of their parents, the researchers also examined the differences in education levels between siblings.

REDUCES THE RISK OF DEATH BY 7 PERCENT

As a result of the analyses, it was determined that every additional 2 years of education received by the participants could slow the pace of aging by 2 to 3 percent, and this situation could reduce the risk of death by approximately 7 percent.

This study revealed for the first time the relationship between education level and biological aging and lifespan. The results showed that individuals with higher education levels age more slowly and lead a healthy life for a longer period.

The study was published in the journal "JAMA Network Open".
