Ozan Güven breaks silence on Deniz Bulutsuz case years later: 'To those disappointed in me...'

Actor Ozan Güven was a guest on the program "Biz Bize," hosted by Sinan Özedincik and Merve Yurtyapan, which airs on A Para. Güven shared his assessments regarding the Deniz Bulutsuz case, which has recently returned to the public agenda, and the protest incident he experienced in Kadıköy.

Recalling that he was sentenced to 2 years and 3 months in prison for "intentional injury with a weapon" in the violence case involving his former girlfriend Deniz Bulutsuz, and that this verdict was upheld by the appellate court, Güven explained the reasons for his silence throughout the process.

Stating that there were gag orders and confidentiality rulings regarding the matter, the actor said, "There is justice, there is a court, there is a gag order, there is a confidentiality ruling. The subject is a very sensitive one."

Criticizing the way sensitive issues like violence are discussed on television screens, Güven said, "We must protect our women and our children. But being lumped into the same category as a few isolated monsters, psychopaths, and perverts left no part of me unhurt."

Stating that the process affected him significantly, the actor said, "These six years that have gone from my life have taken a lot from me. It devastated me, frankly. I apologize to all the women who are disappointed in me regarding my situation."

Güven stated that there were five separate charges in the case filed against him, noting that he was acquitted of four of them.

In his statement on the matter, he used the following expressions:

"I was sued for five crimes in the case. I was acquitted of four of them. There is no deprivation of liberty. There is no extortion. There was a lamp incident between us. I held the lamp, she scratched this part of me, I had it treated. I was convicted of injuring a person with a lamp, with a weapon. I was acquitted of the other four."

Evaluating the footage of the assault that was reflected in the public eye during the trial process, Güven said, "I did not touch her. I cannot know what happened after me."

Regarding the redness in Bulutsuz's eye, he claimed that they had gone to the hospital before the incident and that it was a condition caused by ocular hypertension.

WHAT DID HE SAY ABOUT THE PROTESTS IN KADIKÖY?

Güven, who recently returned to the agenda after encountering the reaction of some women at a venue in Kadıköy where he was with Mehmet Aslantuğ, expressed his discomfort with his photo being used in every news story about violence.

The actor said the following on the subject:

"I am neither the heartthrob of young girls from 2004, nor am I ashamed of my picture being placed there in every incident of violence. Because I am in such a picture. A mother raised me. Women raised me. I grew up with women. Those who know me, know me; those who don't, let them learn. I beg you, no more. Do not put me there."

Furthermore, emphasizing that he has stayed away from the screens throughout the trial process, Güven said, "Leave me alone now," adding that he consciously stayed away from projects. The actor stated that he made this decision both to avoid bothering anyone and to prevent the people he works with from being harmed.

TOUCHED ON THE "A WOMAN'S STATEMENT IS ESSENTIAL" DEBATE

Responding to the question "A woman's statement is essential" posed during the program, Güven said that he had frequently encountered this phrase over the past six years.

While conveying his views on the subject, he said, "When a woman says something, they have to take it on record. Clear. Which woman, which statement?"

Evaluating what happened as an "isolated incident," the actor said, "I loved a girl. We had a relationship that lasted 3-4 months. I realized it wouldn't work and wanted to break up. The lamp case happened."

At the end of his statements, Güven concluded his assessment of the process with the words, "I have no anger, grudge, or desire for revenge against anyone. Leave me alone now."
