The cost of a week of luxury on the 111-year-old yacht owned by Caroline Koç is 4.6 million liras

Offering luxury accommodation on the Bosphorus and the Aegean coast, the Halas 71 was built in 1914 in Glasgow, England. Originally named 'Reşit Paşa', the yacht was seized by the British government during World War I and sent to Gallipoli under the name 'Waterwich'. Entering Turkish waters in 1918, the ship was renamed 'Halas' after the War of Independence and served as a passenger ferry on the Bosphorus.

Purchased by Haldun and Çiğdem Simavi in 1984, the Halas was converted into a luxury charter yacht. In 2008, it was acquired by Mustafa and Caroline Koç and underwent an extensive renovation process.

In 2010, Mustafa Koç was involved in an accident with the yacht on the Bosphorus. Koç sustained serious injuries in the accident, which occurred off the coast of Ortaköy. However, the yacht continued to host luxury events following this incident.

The Halas 71 has hosted royalty such as Prince Charles and Princess Margaret, as well as former world leaders in the past. In 2020, its operation was transferred to Maçakızı. Today, the yacht offers accommodation for up to 24 guests, and the weekly rental price starts at 112 thousand euros.
