The world's 50 best hotels announced: Which hotel from Turkey was included?

The world's 50 best hotels have been announced. While Asian countries dominate the list, Turkey is not represented, though one brand-new hotel was honored with an award. 

According to a report by Independent Türkçe, the list of the 50 Best Hotels, determined by a jury of 600 anonymous travel journalists, experts, and hoteliers from around the world, was announced at an event held in London on Tuesday, September 17. 

Capella Bangkok, located in the Thai capital, took the top spot on the list, which was compiled for the second time this year.

Opened in 2020 in the midst of the pandemic, Capella Bangkok offers visitors a 5-star experience in Charoenkrung, Thailand's oldest neighborhood.

Each of the property's 101 spacious and light-filled rooms features its own private garden and pool. 

The hotel, where nightly rates start at 600 dollars, entered the 2023 list at number 11. 

ASIAN COUNTRIES TAKE CENTER STAGE

Speaking to CNBC following yesterday's awards ceremony, General Manager John Blanco expressed his excitement, saying, "I think we're numb!"

"It's very unexpected, it's humbling, all the adjectives you can think of. A small brand like Capella... It's a wonderful recognition for our staff."

In a statement to CNN, Blanco said that the COVID-19 pandemic provided an opportunity to get to know their customers and bond with them. 

While Bangkok placed three more hotels in the top 50, Asian countries are prominent on this year's list. Seven hotels from the continent managed to break into the top 10. 

Passalacqua, which took the top spot in Italy last year, came in second this year. 

NIGHTLY RATE AT THE ISTANBUL HOTEL IS 1050 EUROS

Hotels in Turkey failed to make the list again this year. However, The Peninsula Istanbul, which overlooks the Bosphorus, was awarded the "Hotel to Watch" title.

The expert team that compiles the list gives this award to properties that have the potential to enter the top 50 in the future.

Opened in 2023, The Peninsula Istanbul consists of four interconnected buildings, one of which was built in 1937. The hotel's nightly rate starts at 1,050 euros.
