The world's most populous cities have been announced: What is Istanbul's ranking?

A global mega-city report prepared by the United Nations has revealed that population density in cities is steadily increasing. In the list ranking the 20 most populous cities worldwide, the Asian continent has demonstrated significant dominance. China, with six cities, and India, with four, stood out for their leadership in this area.

Japan's capital, Tokyo, continues to lead the list with its massive population of 37.2 million. Tokyo is followed by India's capital, Delhi, with 32 million, and China's largest city, Shanghai, with 28.5 million. After these three mega-cities, cities such as Dhaka (Bangladesh), Sao Paulo (Brazil), and Mexico City (Mexico) also featured prominently in the top rankings.

Istanbul, with a population of 15.6 million, has earned the title of the 14th most populous city in the world.
