Thousands of tourists visit that village every day

Located on the Mediterranean coast of France, Cap d'Agde holds the title of being not only the largest naturist village in the country but also in the world. Situated about an hour away from Montpellier, the settlement stands out for its naturalness and free lifestyle. Reaching annual figures of approximately 12 million overnight stays and visited by an average of 45 thousand tourists per day during the high season, this village has effectively become one of Europe's popular tourism destinations.

Offering a modern urban infrastructure, the region is known as one of the rare places where nudity is considered completely normal in daily life, from supermarkets to banks. Promising freedom to visitors with its two-kilometer private beach, Cap d'Agde stands out not only for its nudity but also for its strict rules.

According to the regulations published on the village's website, while nudity is permitted in the area, compliance with hygiene rules is mandatory. Furthermore, behaviors such as taking photographs without others' permission, exhibitionism, and voyeurism are strictly prohibited.

The town's administration maintains a clear stance against actions that disrupt public order and, in particular, against pornographic activities. For those caught engaging in voyeurism within the region, heavy fines of up to 15 thousand euros can be imposed.

However, debates have also emerged among long-time visitors of Cap d'Agde. Former residents who have been coming to the region for about 30 years and supporters of the naturist movement believe that the spirit of the naturist village has changed in recent years. According to these individuals, the rapid spread of the lifestyle known as "swinging" has begun to push the traditional naturist understanding in the village into the background. Regulars who once described the area as a simple camp in harmony with nature claim that today, approximately 40 percent of visitors are drawn here for different pursuits.

Starting as a naturist village, this town, which has few parallels in the world, continues to make a name for itself by attracting interest with its libertarian structure while simultaneously grappling with social rules and conflicts between old and new traditions.
