Tradesman selling lahmacun for 50 TL in Sivas responds to criticism

Selahattin Yapalı, a lahmacun seller in Sivas who has made a name for himself with his affordable prices, became the subject of complaints for selling his product for 50 TL. However, inspections conducted by the Provincial Directorate of Trade in recent days found no irregularities, and Yapalı has continued his campaign.

Yapalı shared the cost breakdown of his lahmacun in detail, stating that he makes a profit despite the low price. He noted that the practice has been met with great interest from the public.

Stating that he is satisfied despite the low profit margin, Yapalı said, "Let me explain how lahmacun can be sold for 50 TL to enlighten people. In Sivas, a kilo of meat is 800 TL, a kilo of onions is 20 TL, and tomatoes are 30 TL. I sell lahmacun with a 15 percent profit margin. I own the property of our workplace. We host our guests. They ask me a lot why it is so cheap. I earn a little, but I do earn. If we didn't have a profit, we wouldn't be able to sell it at this price anyway. There were those who were very uncomfortable, but we are satisfied. May God grant abundance; thank God we are earning. We have been running this campaign for 3 years. With such high demand, we will continue this campaign. As long as I have the strength and as long as our earnings cover the costs, we will continue to sell lahmacun for 50 TL."

On the other hand, a citizen who came to Sivas from Manisa to eat lahmacun also drew attention to the affordability of the prices, saying, "My wife is originally from Sivas. She praised the lahmacun here a lot and said it was good. We ate it and liked it. It is really very good. It is both filling and economical. In these days when the economy is difficult, having such tradesmen is a good thing for our people. Everyone can eat it; it is filling and delicious."
