Won the $1.7 million jackpot

Fredric Norian, who lives in the US, won a lottery with one-in-seven-million odds by playing the same numbers repeatedly for 40 years.

However, Norian chose to receive the jackpot in installments and did not receive the full $1.7 million (50 million TL).

Norian, who will still receive a large sum, will be paid $1.2 million instead of $1.7 million due to a 25 percent deduction by the lottery administration. Norian announced that he would use part of his winnings to renovate his kitchen.

MATHEMATICIAN COUPLE SHARED THE SECRET

While Norian was hitting a large sum, a retired mathematician couple also claimed to have cracked the code to winning the lottery. The Selby couple won a total of $26 million, despite the odds being one in 292 million.

Claiming to have found a legal loophole, the Selbys said that on each ticket consisting of 6 numbers, 18 or 19 numbers could be matched 3 times.
