World record broken: Kami Rita climbs to the summit of Everest

Nepalese mountaineer Kami Rita has broken a world record by climbing to the summit of Mount Everest for the 29th time.

According to a BBC report, 54-year-old Rita, who first reached the 8,848-meter summit in 1994, broke his own record with this latest climb, maintaining his title as the "person who has climbed to the Everest summit the most times."

It was stated that Rita, who managed to reach the summit of Mount Everest—the world's highest point hosted by Nepal—for the 29th time, is known as the "Everest man."

It was emphasized that the Nepalese Sherpa (local guide) Rita set a world record with his new climb, and it was noted that he has worked as a tourist guide for years.

In a post shared on the Everest Today social media account, it was reported that British mountaineer Kenton Cool also broke his own record on the same day as Kami Rita.

The post stated that Cool also broke his own record as a "foreign mountaineer" and managed to reach the summit of Everest for the 18th time.

Information was shared that Nepal has granted Everest permits to 414 mountaineers as part of the climbing season, which will continue from April to June.

Last year, while more than 600 mountaineers succeeded in climbing to the summit of Everest, 18 mountaineers lost their lives.
