A dispute between two groups on Veyselkarani Street in the town regarding the upcoming neighborhood headman election in Karakaya village escalated into a brawl involving stones, sticks, and firearms.

Upon notification, police and 112 Emergency Health teams were dispatched to the scene. 1 police officer, who was attempting to separate the parties, and 7 other individuals were injured in the fight.

The injured were transported to hospitals in the city by ambulance. 5 people involved in the brawl were taken into custody by police teams.

Siirt Governor Kemal Kızılkaya, accompanied by District Governor Emin Bağlı, Provincial Police Chief Necmettin Öztürk, Provincial Gendarmerie Commander Brigadier General Emrullah Büyük, and Veyselkarani Town Mayor Murat Akgün, went to the scene to receive information.

STONES, STICKS, AND FIREARMS WERE USED IN THE BRAWL

Governor Kızılkaya stated to reporters that the dispute began when citizens living in Karakaya village, who had a prior feud particularly over neighborhood headman elections, encountered each other on Veyselkarani Street, and that the argument turned into a fight involving stones, sticks, and firearms.

Stating that 1 police officer who wanted to intervene in the fight and 7 other people were injured, Kızılkaya said that the injured were under treatment at the hospital.

Kızılkaya said, "Here, the police, gendarmerie, and all security forces have taken the necessary measures. A judicial investigation has been launched quickly, and the matter is being followed up.

This incident has saddened us. This unruly behavior has cast a shadow over the election environment, which has been continuing in peace, brotherhood, and love in our province, district, and town.

We invite all our citizens to refrain from behaviors that will cast a shadow over this peace. I condemn this incident and wish our townspeople a speedy recovery."
