Boyfriend arrested in Gözde's suspicious death

Gözde Gökalp, who lived alone in the Sarısu neighborhood of the Konyaaltı district, was found dead face down in her home on the morning of the previous day. It was learned that after her family, who lives abroad, could not reach the young woman for a long time, they informed her boyfriend, Hüseyin Ş. Hüseyin Ş. told Gökalp's older sister that he would go to the house and check on her. At the same time, her father also asked for help from a locksmith friend residing in Antalya.

After the locksmith opened the door, Gökalp was found motionless, face down in the living room. Upon notification, health teams arrived at the scene and determined that the 36-year-old woman had lost her life. Because bruises were detected on various parts of Gökalp's body, her death was considered suspicious. A detailed investigation was launched by crime scene investigation teams and the Public Prosecutor's Office. Gökalp's body was taken to the Antalya Forensic Medicine Institute Morgue to determine the exact cause of death.

The funeral, for which autopsy procedures were completed, was delivered to her family this morning. The father, who experienced great sorrow in front of the Forensic Medicine Institute, had difficulty standing. Gökalp's funeral will be laid to rest in the Boğaçayı Cemetery following the funeral prayer to be held at the Uncalı Mosque after the noon prayer tomorrow.

Hüseyin Ş., who was taken into custody after the incident, was interrogated at the Public Security Branch Directorate's Murder Bureau. In his statement to the police, Hüseyin Ş. claimed that he came to the apartment after Gökalp did not answer her phone the previous day, but that he did not enter because the door would not open.

Hüseyin Ş., who was referred to the courthouse after his procedures at the police station, was arrested by the duty court on charges of "intentional homicide" and sent to prison.
