Burglars who broke into an elderly man's home in İzmir committed murder

In an incident that occurred on the first floor of an apartment building in the Lale neighborhood of İzmir's Konak district, suspects who entered the home for the purpose of burglary stabbed 81-year-old Erdinç Kavut to death. Police and medical teams arriving at the scene determined that Kavut had lost his life. Kavut's body was taken to the İzmir Forensic Medicine Institute morgue following investigations at the scene.

Police determined that two suspects, whose identities have not yet been established, entered the apartment from the backyard and stabbed Kavut in the chest in the bedroom. It was learned that Kavut's wife was also at home during the incident and that neighbors reported the situation to the 112 Emergency Call Center after hearing noises.

Within the scope of the investigation launched into the incident, efforts to apprehend three suspects are ongoing. Authorities stated that security cameras in the surrounding area are being examined to shed light on the incident.
