Department Chair found dead in his home

Department Chair found dead in his home

Assoc. Prof. Dr. Semih Serkant Aktuğ, the Chair of the Department of Economics at the Faculty of Economics and Administrative Sciences at Siirt University, was found dead in his apartment at the Kezer Campus yesterday afternoon. His relatives and colleagues, unable to reach him, reported the situation to the 112 Emergency Call Center. Fire department teams arriving at the scene used a ladder truck to enter Aktuğ's apartment, where they found him motionless on the floor.

Following an examination, it was determined that Aktuğ had passed away. His body was taken to the morgue at Siirt Training and Research Hospital for autopsy procedures. The autopsy revealed that Aktuğ, who suffered from diabetes, had died after suffering a heart attack.

LARGE ATTENDANCE AT FUNERAL

Following the completion of the autopsy procedures, the funeral of Assoc. Prof. Dr. Aktuğ was brought to the Siirt University Campus Mosque. Aktuğ's family, colleagues, and students attended the funeral ceremony. After the funeral prayer, Aktuğ's remains were laid to rest at the Zevye Cemetery. During the funeral, his colleagues and students did not leave Aktuğ alone on his final journey.
