Diyanet President Erbaş: We are also teachers

Diyanet President Prof. Dr. Ali Erbaş met with religious officials in Osmaniye.

Speaking at the program held at the Osmaniye Korkut Ata University 15 July Martyrs Amphitheater, President Erbaş stated that religious officials are a community that strives for the peace and prosperity of humanity, and for the development and improvement of the earth.

"BECAUSE WE ARE ALSO TEACHERS"

President Erbaş noted that there are 3.5 million students in summer Quran courses, saying, "We have students not just from 7 to 70, but even before 7 and after 70. Because we are also teachers. Our Prophet says, 'I was sent as a teacher.' We are the teachers of our congregation. We are the teachers of our congregation at the sermon podium, on the minbar, at the lecture podium, and in mosque lessons," he said.

"LET US STRIVE"

Stating that religious officials should explain the beauties of Islam to children, President Erbaş said, "Let us strive for our sons and daughters to learn our religion from the most beautiful and accurate sources. Let us not cause them to be exposed to extremism and superstitions. If we do not look after them, others will, or we will condemn them to the virtual world," he said.
