Firefighter whose wife and two children died in fire arrested
As part of the investigation into the tragic fire in the Nazilli district of Aydın, firefighter Turgay Ahmet Gezgin, who lost his wife and two children in the blaze, was arrested by the Criminal Court of Peace and sent to prison.
Following a technical and physical surveillance operation conducted by the Public Security Bureau teams that lasted approximately two months, Turgay Ahmet Gezgin and a person named F.T., with whom he was in a relationship, were identified as suspects in the fire and taken into custody during an operation carried out on May 13, 2025, at around 03:00.
After their procedures at the police station, the suspects were referred to the Nazilli Chief Public Prosecutor's Office and appeared before a judge at the Criminal Court of Peace.
The court decided to arrest Gezgin and sent him to prison. The other suspect, a nurse named F.T., was released under judicial control conditions.
As will be recalled, Turgay Gezgin's wife, Fatma Dere Gezgin, and the couple's two children lost their lives in the fire in question.
