Governor's Office issues urgent notice: Vehicles without winter tires will not be allowed on the road
The Kocaeli Governor's Office has announced that vehicles without winter tires will not be permitted on the road due to the approaching snowfall.
The General Directorate of Meteorology has issued warnings regarding the Altay Snowstorm, which is expected to affect all of Turkey. In this context, the Kocaeli Governor's Office held a meeting chaired by Governor İlhami Aktaş to review the measures to be taken against adverse weather conditions.

Due to the heavy snowfall and cold wave expected between February 20 and 23, it was announced that provincial and district Disaster and Emergency Management centers will operate on a 24-hour basis. The General Directorate of Highways, the Metropolitan Municipality, and district municipalities have completed their preparations against snowfall and icing.
Response teams have been increased to address potential disruptions in infrastructure services such as electricity, water, and natural gas. The Provincial Police Department and the Provincial Gendarmerie Command will tighten winter tire inspections and prevent vehicles without winter tires from entering traffic.
The General Directorate of Highways and the Turkish Red Crescent have taken measures to manage potential congestion at facilities along the highway. Additionally, plans have been made to leave food and fodder at feeding stations for stray animals. District governorships and municipalities will provide shelter for those in need.
With these measures, the goal is to minimize the negative impacts of the snowfall in Kocaeli.
