Guns fired in road rage dispute
In the Çayeli district of Rize, 1 person lost their life and 1 person was injured in an armed fight that broke out over a road rage incident.
The incident occurred around 16:30 on Şairler Neighborhood. A dispute began between a shuttle driver named H.G. and an individual named Ömer Sofu after they came face-to-face in traffic.
As the intensity of the argument increased, the parties drew their weapons and began firing at each other.
In the incident, H.G., who was learned to be a former neighborhood headman (muhtar), was wounded in the shoulder, while Ömer Sofu lost his life. The aftermath of the incident was recorded moment by moment by citizens using mobile phone cameras.
A wide-ranging investigation has been launched into the incident.
