In the Afşin district of Kahramanmaraş, Nuh M., a father of five, poured flammable liquid on himself and set himself on fire in front of the municipal building. The incident was broadcast to the world via a live stream on social media. In the live stream, Nuh M. tearfully said, "I want the necessary action to be taken. I am going to burn myself," and alleged that he had been beaten by the municipality before attempting suicide. He also stated, "I have 5 children, I live in a rented house. The mayor did nothing. Mr. President, there is no justice in Afşin, I request that the necessary action be taken."

According to reports published in Yeşil Afşin, medical teams were dispatched to the scene after Nuh M. set himself on fire in front of the municipal building. Nuh M. was transferred to Şanlıurfa, where he was taken under treatment. Despite all interventions, he lost his life. While the news of Nuh M.'s death caused great sadness, the details of the incident drew public attention.

The Afşin Municipality issued a written statement regarding the incident, stating that the claims made by Nuh M. on social media—that he had been beaten in the municipal building and fired from his job a few months ago—did not reflect the truth. In the municipal statement, it was noted that Nuh M. had been hired by the Afşin District Governorate under the Community Benefit Project (TYP) and had left the job when his term expired. The municipality emphasized that these processes were not within their jurisdiction.

The municipal statement said, "Our citizen claimed a few months ago that he was beaten in the municipal building and fired from his job. However, these claims are untrue. Nuh M. was hired by the district governorate under the TYP and left the job when his term ended." The municipality argued that the entire process was under the authority of the district governorate and that the claims had nothing to do with the municipality.

The municipality's statement also noted that Nuh M. had a nervous breakdown after his request to be hired was rejected and that municipal security personnel tried to stop him. Despite the intervention of the municipal security personnel, Nuh M. continued to harm himself. It was stated that medical teams were notified after the incident and that the treatment process was followed.
