Hidden price hike on bread in Bursa
A hidden price hike on bread has been implemented in Bursa. While a 250-gram loaf was sold for 10 liras starting January 1, it began being sold for the same 10-lira price but at a weight of 200 grams as of May 15.
According to a decision taken by the Bursa Union of Chambers of Tradesmen and Craftsmen, while 250-gram standard white bread was sold for 10 liras until the May date, it will be offered for sale at the same price but at a weight of 200 grams starting from this date.
Whole wheat, yellow wheat, bran, and rye breads, priced at 20 and 25 liras, have been reduced from 400 grams to 300 grams. Village bread and Trabzon bread, sold for 30 liras, have decreased from 700 grams to 600 grams. The only item to receive a direct price increase was the dinner roll. The price of a 50-gram dinner roll, previously sold for 3.5 liras, has risen to 4 liras.
