Inmate on leave gets lost while trying to flee to Georgia, calls the gendarmerie

An inmate who was released from prison on leave attempted to cross into Georgia from Artvin through illegal means. However, after losing his way and becoming stranded in the terrain, he called the gendarmerie and said, 'find me.' The inmate, who was found as a result of a three-hour search by gendarmerie teams, was sent back to prison.

FOUND WITH DRONE-SUPPORTED SEARCH

According to a statement from the Artvin Governor's Office, M.Ç.K (44), who called the 112 Emergency Call Center during the night of March 15, reported that he was stranded in the terrain while trying to cross into Georgia illegally near Çamurlu village in the Kemalpaşa district of Artvin, and that he did not know his location.

Teams from the Kemalpaşa District Gendarmerie Command first determined M.Ç.K's location via the Gendarmerie Geographic Analysis System, and then reached the scene following a difficult 3-hour trek supported by drones. The teams evacuated M.Ç.K, who was stranded in a second-degree Military Forbidden Zone.

As a result of the investigation, it was determined that M.Ç.K had a criminal record of 25 offenses, had been released on leave from the Gaziantep Open Penal Institution, and also had a travel ban due to ongoing court cases. Following judicial proceedings, M.Ç.K was delivered to the Artvin Closed Penal Institution.
