Man kills bedridden wife with a firearm
In the Bornova district of İzmir, a man shot and killed his bedridden wife following an argument. The suspect, who fled the scene, was apprehended by police shortly after.
The incident occurred around 20:00 in the Rafetpaşa neighborhood of the district. R.T. (70) shot his wife, İzade Teker (69), who was reportedly bedridden, with a handgun for reasons yet to be determined. Upon reports from neighbors who heard the gunshots, numerous police and medical teams were dispatched to the area.
Upon arriving at the scene, the teams determined that İzade Teker had lost her life. While the unlicensed handgun used in the incident was seized, the suspect R.T. was apprehended by police teams shortly after, taken into custody, and transported to the Homicide Bureau of the Public Security Branch Directorate.
The body of the deceased woman was transported to the morgue of the İzmir Forensic Medicine Institute following an examination.
An investigation into the incident has been launched.
