Mayor worked on the back of a garbage truck on May 1st
Giresun Mayor Fuat Köse had breakfast with municipal sanitation workers early on the morning of May 1st, then spent his shift working on the back of a garbage truck.
Holding onto the back of the sanitation vehicle, Mayor Köse emptied trash containers into the truck, collected spilled garbage, and swept the streets.
Citizens who noticed Köse could not hide their surprise and took photos to share on social media.
"I FELT HONORED AND PROUD"
Mayor Köse stated that the municipal workers performing sanitation duties carry out an honorable task, saying, “On May 1st, Labor and Solidarity Day, I felt honored and proud to be with the workers and to experience their daily challenges.
They bring bread to their homes through their sweat and labor.
I believe that local governments should be intertwined with the workers and citizens,” he said.
