Police officer horror at a police station in Adıyaman: 2 police officers martyred in attack

A police officer in Adıyaman opened fire with a weapon on other police officers on duty at a police station.

The incident took place at the Adıyaman Altınşehir Police Station.

Allegedly, a police officer on duty at the station opened fire with a weapon on other police officers on duty for an unknown reason.

Two police officers were wounded following the incident.

FIRST STATEMENT FROM MINISTER OF INTERIOR YERLİKAYA

Minister Yerlikaya shared the details regarding the attack. Here is that statement from Minister of Interior Yerlikaya:

Today, at approximately 20:15, police officer S.U.Ş., who was serving at the Adıyaman Altınşehir Police Station, wounded Police Station Chief K.Ü. and Public Security Branch Team Leader G.Ö. with his service weapon.

The perpetrator of the incident, S.U.Ş., was neutralized and taken into custody.

Our Police Station Chief K.Ü. and our Team Leader G.Ö., who were rushed to the hospital in critical condition, could not be saved despite all interventions at the hospital and have unfortunately been martyred.

We wish God's mercy upon our martyrs who lost their lives in the incident, and we extend our patience and condolences to their grieving families.

A judicial and administrative investigation has been initiated regarding the matter.

GOVERNOR VAROL CONDUCTED AN INSPECTION AT THE SCENE

Adıyaman Governor Osman Varol conducted inspections at the police station where the station chief and the team leader were martyred as a result of fire opened by a police officer.

In the evening hours, at the Altınşehir Martyr Ahmet Yıldırım Police Station, Police Station Chief Chief Commissioner Kamuran Ü. and public security branch team leader Gökhan Ö. were shot and martyred inside the police station by police officer S.U.Ş.

S.U.Ş. was wounded and neutralized after other police teams present at the scene shot him in the leg, and he was taken to the hospital.

Following the incident, Adıyaman Governor Osman Varol arrived at the police station to conduct inspections.

Due to Provincial Police Chief Cihat Dağdeviren being on leave and not in Adıyaman, Kahramanmaraş Provincial Police Chief Nurettin Gökduman also arrived at the police station to conduct inspections. Governor Osman Varol, who conducted inspections until late at night, later left the police station.
