Suicide at Marmaray in Istanbul

The incident occurred around 18:00 at the Marmaray Yeşilyurt station located in the Bakırköy district of Istanbul. According to the information obtained, a person who came to the station jumped onto the tracks of a train heading towards Gebze.

Upon the notification of those around, fire, police, and medical teams were dispatched to the scene. Fire crews began efforts to extract the man who was trapped under the train.

They extracted the individual and handed him over to the medical teams. It was determined that the person, who received initial intervention at the scene, had lost his life.

The individual's body was taken to the Forensic Medicine Institute morgue for examination. A statement regarding the matter was made from Marmaray's social media account, stating, "Our Marmaray services have begun operating on both lines, and our services have returned to normal."
