Suspect escapes from police station in Esenyurt during processing
In Esenyurt, a suspect who fled while being processed at a police station failed to comply with a police order to stop. A bullet fired by police into the ground ricocheted and struck the individual. The wounded suspect was taken to the hospital.
The incident occurred around 18:00 at the police station in the İncirtepe neighborhood of Esenyurt. According to information obtained, a 40-year-old individual identified as H.T., who was wanted for threats and insults, was taken to the station. During the police check at the station, it was discovered that the individual was also wanted for drug-related offenses.
Upon learning during the processing that he was wanted for a drug offense, the suspect fled the police station. The police fired warning shots into the air to stop the suspect, who did not comply with the order to stop, but the suspect continued to run away.
Thereupon, the police fired at the ground. The bullet, which ricocheted off the ground, struck the fleeing suspect in the back.
The suspect, who collapsed to the ground, was taken to the hospital by ambulance after initial intervention. The 40-year-old individual, who was seriously injured, remains under treatment at the hospital.
The investigation initiated into the incident is ongoing.
