Teacher who abused 6 students sentenced to 130 years in prison
Mahir Aralp, a primary school teacher who was being tried while in custody on charges of sexually abusing 6 female students at a private school in the Kartepe district of Kocaeli, has been sentenced to 130 years in prison.
Mahir Aralp, a primary school teacher at a private school in the İstasyon neighborhood of Kartepe, allegedly sexually abused 6 female students at different times during the 2023-2024 academic years. Following a complaint, Aralp was detained on January 7 and subsequently arrested. After the indictment was prepared, a lawsuit was filed against Mahir Aralp, seeking a prison sentence ranging from 84 years and 6 months to 204 years and 5 months for the crime of 'sexual abuse of 6 children under the age of 12'.
The defendant, who is in custody, appeared before the judge at the final hearing of the case held today. The lawyers for the parties and the families of the victimized children were also present at the hearing.
The families stated that they maintained their complaints and demanded that the defendant be punished in the most severe manner without any sentence reductions. The defendant, Mahir Aralp, denied the accusations against him and requested his acquittal. The defense attorneys requested the defendant's release and acquittal, and also asked for an on-site inspection to be conducted at the school.

After hearing the parties, the court panel announced its verdict. The panel sentenced the defendant to 130 years in prison. The families of the victims applauded the sentence as it was read in court. The defendant was acquitted of the charge of 'threat'.
