Tragedy in Gaziosmanpaşa: Person who fell into elevator shaft dies
A person who became trapped in an elevator at a residence in Gaziosmanpaşa lost their life after falling into the shaft while attempts were being made to rescue them.
Ersin Öztürk (64), who boarded an elevator at a residence in the Karadeniz neighborhood, became trapped after the elevator malfunctioned.
After staff notified the technical service, Öztürk fell into the shaft while attempting to exit the elevator during the rescue efforts.
Öztürk, who fell from a height of approximately 30 meters, lost his life at the scene.
Upon notification, police, fire, and medical teams were dispatched to the scene.
While fire crews recovered Öztürk's lifeless body from where it had fallen, police teams launched an investigation into the incident.
The technical service personnel who arrived to intervene following the elevator malfunction were taken to the police station to provide their statements.
