Woman performing ID checks in gendarmerie uniform surprises with her real profession: First denied, then cried

In the Ereğli district of Zonguldak, a woman identified as M.K. changed out of her civilian clothes at a shopping center and put on a military uniform she had brought with her. 

The 24-year-old M.K. used her phone to perform GBT (General Information Gathering) checks on shopkeepers on Meydanbaşı Street in the town center.

Visiting businesses along the street, the woman asked for the shopkeepers' IDs, claiming she was checking their criminal records. After stating she was conducting GBT checks and receiving IDs from shopkeepers, the woman then entered cafes on Uzunkum Street by the coast and asked for the IDs of the customers sitting inside.

CLAIMED TO BE A TEACHER

A customer who became suspicious of the woman called 112 to report the situation. Following the report, teams from the Ereğli Police Department's Public Order and Anti-Terror branches moved to the scene. The police teams caught the woman in the gendarmerie uniform in the act and asked for her military identification card.

Learning that she did not have a card, the teams took the woman's ID and performed a GBT check. It was determined that H.K. was a contract teacher and had no prior criminal record.

The detained woman was taken back to the shopping center under police escort to change her clothes.

The woman, when questioned by the police, initially claimed she had come for a specific matter. Realizing she could not deceive the police, the woman stated that she had a passion for the military profession and that she worked as a teacher. Adding that she wore the gendarmerie uniform for a theater performance, it was learned that she cried in the police vehicle and expressed regret.

The woman, who was identified as a contract teacher, will be brought before judicial authorities after her statement is taken.
