Şamil Tayyar reveals the behind-the-scenes of the Can Holding operation: It turns out many people tried to block it! The Rezan Epözdemir detail

Turkey woke up this morning to a large-scale operation targeting Can Holding.

As part of the investigation conducted by the Küçükçekmece Chief Public Prosecutor's Office in Istanbul, detention warrants were issued for 10 people, including holding executives Mehmet Şakir Can, Kemal Can, and Kenan Tekdağ.

TRUSTEES APPOINTED TO 121 COMPANIES

Within the scope of the investigation, trustees were appointed to 121 companies, including Habertürk, Bloomberg HT, Show TV, Bilgi University, and Doğa College. The management of the companies was transferred to the Savings Deposit Insurance Fund (TMSF).

AKP member Şamil Tayyar shared details of the operation, stating that Can Holding is accused of laundering 254 million liras in criminal proceeds and utilizing 88 billion liras in funds of unknown origin. Tayyar also stated that detention warrants were issued for the holding's executives on charges of establishing a criminal organization, fraud, smuggling, and money laundering.

“THOSE WHO WANTED TO PREVENT THE OPERATION LACKED THE POWER”

Pointing out that there were attempts to block the operation, Tayyar noted the following:

“There were many people who wore themselves out in recent days trying to prevent the operation, but they lacked the power. The power of the friends whom the organization members described as the ‘god of the judiciary’ also proved insufficient.”

“A MAJOR OPERATION OPEN TO NEW SURPRISES”

Tayyar stated that the detention of Can Holding CEO Kenan Tekdağ was noteworthy. Furthermore, pointing to the social media posts of the detained lawyer Rezan Epözdemir, he used the following expressions:

“The detention of Kenan Tekdağ, whom they called ‘big brother,’ lowered even Rezan Epözdemir’s guard. He deleted the post where he was subtly threatening, as if saying ‘Save me or I will talk.’ In short, it is a bold, major operation open to new surprises. Let us watch.”
