Journalist Barış Pehlivan makes statement at courthouse: 'I have been in an unlawful process for three months'
Journalist Barış Pehlivan has entered prison for the 5th time following a lawsuit filed against him due to his reporting. Pehlivan, who is being held at Maltepe Open Prison, arrived at the hearing after receiving permission from the prison. Pehlivan said, "I have been in an unlawful process for three months."
Journalist Barış Pehlivan, who is being held at Maltepe Open Prison, has been kept in prison for 3 months as he has not been granted his right to supervised release. Arriving at the hearing held today at the Istanbul Çağlayan Courthouse with special permission, Pehlivan said, "I have been in an unlawful process for three months. I hope we will witness the end of that process. Thank you all very much."
The hearing was attended by TİP MP Ahmet Şık, former CHP MPs Ali Şeker and Gürsel Tekin, Süleyman Çelebi, Kadir Gökmenöğüt, and many journalists.
