Journalist Barış Terkoğlu stood trial today for a final hearing in a case opened following a complaint by Deputy Minister of Justice Akın Gürlek, based on his news report titled "The same judge always makes the decisions on Turkey's agenda" and his article titled "Where do I remember the judge who is stirring up Turkey from?", on charges of 'targeting individuals involved in counter-terrorism'.
Barış Terkoğlu and his lawyers attended the hearing held at the Istanbul 13th High Criminal Court.
2-YEAR PRISON SENTENCE
Announcing its verdict, the court stated that it had reached the conclusion that Barış Terkoğlu had committed the crime of 'targeting individuals involved in counter-terrorism' as charged, and sentenced Terkoğlu to 2 years in prison.
