New development in drug investigation: Mehmet Akif Ersoy and 7 suspects taken to Forensic Medicine Institute
Eight people, including Habertürk TV Editor-in-Chief Mehmet Akif Ersoy, were referred to the Forensic Medicine Institute for health checks after being detained by the gendarmerie as part of a "drug" investigation.
Eight suspects, who were detained in an operation carried out by the Istanbul Provincial Gendarmerie Command teams last night, were taken to the Forensic Medicine Institute in the morning for health checks. Habertürk TV Editor-in-Chief Mehmet Akif Ersoy is among the suspects.
INVESTIGATION LAUNCHED UPON PROSECUTOR'S INSTRUCTION
Detention warrants had been issued for 8 people as part of the "drug" investigation conducted by the Istanbul Chief Public Prosecutor's Office. Acting on the instructions of the Chief Public Prosecutor's Office, the Istanbul Provincial Gendarmerie Command teams apprehended and detained a total of 8 people, including Ersoy.
It was reported that the suspects were detained on charges of "purchasing, accepting, or possessing drugs or stimulants for personal use" and "using drugs or stimulants, or providing a place and opportunity for their use."
