AKP's new Constitution and early election plan becoming clear

The People's Alliance's new Constitution process and the political steps that could be taken through Abdullah Öcalan are causing debates in political circles and among the public.

According to the assessments of journalist Alican Uludağ, the Justice and Development Party (AKP) and the Nationalist Movement Party (MHP) aim to secure the parliamentary majority necessary for preparing a new constitution. Furthermore, an early election decision could pave the way for President Recep Tayyip Erdoğan to run for office again.

NUMERICAL BALANCES REQUIRED FOR A NEW CONSTITUTION

The support of at least 360 deputies is required for the new Constitution to be taken to a referendum. According to Uludağ's calculations, the AKP has 268, the MHP has 47, and the Democratic Regions and National Unity Party (DEM Party) has 57 deputies.

The total number of deputies from these parties reaches 372.

Additionally, when the deputies of HÜDAPAR (4), the New Welfare Party (4), and the Democratic Left Party (1), who were elected from the AKP lists, are added, this number rises to 385.

With the support of some deputies from opposition parties such as DEVA, Future, and Felicity Party, the number sufficient for a referendum could be reached.

ÖCALAN PROCESS AND EARLY ELECTION DEBATES

Uludağ suggested that changing political balances by involving Abdullah Öcalan in the process might be on the agenda.

In this scenario, it is evaluated that with Öcalan's calls, the DEM Party could contribute to the 360-deputy support required for President Erdoğan's re-nomination. However, this situation also brings with it debates such as the continued imprisonment of Selahattin Demirtaş and whether or not Öcalan will be released.

SINGLE BALLOT OPTION ON THE AGENDA

On the other hand, it is being discussed that the AKP and MHP could handle the constitutional amendment and the early election decision in the same process. In this context, the possibility of holding the parliamentary and presidential elections and the new Constitution referendum on the same day may come to the agenda.

DEBATES CONTINUE IN THE PUBLIC EYE

While the debates regarding the new Constitution process and the possibilities of an early election have caused a wide echo among political parties and the public, meetings with Abdullah Öcalan have been supported by media outlets close to the government. Here is the post shared by journalist Alican Uludağ from his X account:
