Call for resignation to Türk-İş... It Left Workers and Laborers Without Representation!

In a written statement calling for the Türk-İş leadership to resign, Selvi claimed that Türk-İş has failed to stand up for workers, labor, and laborers.

In his statement, Selvi, the former General President of the Petrol-İş Union affiliated with Türk-İş, former Deputy Chairman of the CHP, and former Member of Parliament, who noted that “Turkey’s largest organized community is Türk-İş,” stated the following:

“Today, the hardships faced by workers, civil servants, retirees, and all those who live by their labor stem from the fact that they are not being looked after. In the periods before the AKP Government, the greatest opposition in Turkey and the defense of labor rights were carried out by unions. Indeed, despite all the pressures after September 12, the largest rallies and strikes for rights were organized by unions affiliated with Türk-İş. The struggle to obtain the highest rights, including all kinds of social rights in favor of employees, was fought to the end.

“RIGHTS ARE NOT GIVEN, THEY ARE TAKEN”

Ultimately, when viewed in a general sense, the cause of all the hardships being suffered today stems from this Türk-İş leaving the labor sector without representation and remaining silent!

It should be known that workers, civil servants, retirees, and all laborers have adopted the motto ‘rights are not given, they are taken’ as a principle.

We need a resolute Türk-İş leadership that will represent us, seek our rights, put their hands under the stone, and take responsibility, and the way for this must be cleared as soon as possible.”
