Fatih Altaylı’s commentary on Palestine – Israel: It is easy to defend war from your million-dollar villa

Altaylı responded to the backlash he received with an article he published today titled "It is easy to defend war from your million-dollar villa."

Fatih Altaylı noted the following:

"When I and those who think like me criticized this attack, some 'foolish' political Islamists in Turkey began to insult us. Yet, what we are saying is clear. We said, 'This stupid attack not only destroys hopes for peace, but also initiates a process that will result in the deaths of thousands of Palestinians.' If there is one group that is certain not to benefit from this attack, it is the Palestinians, especially those living in Gaza. Because thanks to the footage released by Hamas, Israel will appear more justified and more victimized than ever before. Israel, which was criticized in the past for attacking Gaza during a Muslim holiday, will be remembered as a people who sacrificed their children and women to a brutal massacre on their own holy day. And the Palestinian people will pay the price in a much heavier way. It is easy to say 'Bravo Hamas' while you enjoy yourself in your million-dollar villa here and snort powdered sugar in your Audi. It is easy to take sides in your living room, behind a keyboard, without realizing the Arab-Persian rivalry. In any case, it is not you, but thousands of Palestinians there who will pay the price. Altaylı expressed the view, "The biggest winner in this affair is, of course, Netanyahu. Of course, the Israeli people will one day make him pay the price for his actions. But it is also obvious that this attack has extended Netanyahu's life."
