Kemal Okuyan's harsh assessment of the Iran-Israel tension: 'Question the tin stovepipe myth'

Communist Party of Turkey (TKP) General Secretary Kemal Okuyan made a striking statement regarding the recently escalating Iran-Israel tension and the media discourse in Turkey in this context. Referring to the "Iron Dome myth has collapsed" comments frequently found in the media, Okuyan stated that what should actually be questioned is the defense capacity of Iran, which has been belittled for years.

In his statement, Okuyan said, "Our media has started saying 'the Iron Dome myth has collapsed.' They should instead question the 'tin stovepipe' myth. It is never our job to praise weapons, but it is shameful for the 'experts' who have been mocking the Iranian army for years to now engage in pedantry regarding Iran's ballistic missiles," he stated.

The TKP leader also criticized the use of weapons technology as material for propaganda, emphasizing that war can never be legitimized in any form and that imperialist reckonings in the Middle East only bring destruction to the people. Okuyan noted that some individuals in Turkey who come to the fore with media and "expert" identities have misled the public for years with a tone that belittled Iran's military power, and that they are now displaying a new form of "pedantry" by changing their discourse.
