22 people expelled from CHP: High-level names among them!

A decision has been reached in the disciplinary process initiated against nearly 30 party members in the Republican People's Party (CHP) Çanakkale organization following the March 31 Local Elections.

The list of those decided to be expelled from the party by the Provincial Disciplinary Board after the March 31 elections was also approved by the High Disciplinary Board (YDK). 22 people, including former Deputy Mayors and former provincial and district chairs, have had their ties with the party severed.

According to the report by Gazete Duvar, it was learned that the list of those expelled in the file heard by the CHP Çanakkale Provincial Disciplinary Board was also approved by the YDK in recent days. CHP Çanakkale Provincial Chair Levent Gürbüz stated that they respect the decision made by the disciplinary boards, noting that the actions taken in Çanakkale and Ankara constituted a 'party offense'.

HIGH-LEVEL NAMES ALSO EXPELLED

Excluding those who resigned during the disciplinary investigation, the 22 people expelled from the party included former Deputy Mayors Rebiye Ünüvar and İrfan Mutluay, former Provincial Chairs Metin Ümit Ural and Doğan Ateş, and former Central District Chair Süleyman Erte.

The expulsions, consisting of 2 from Biga, 8 from Gelibolu, and 12 from the Çanakkale center, included the following names: Üzeyir Kotan, İbrahim Özmen (Biga), Alaattin Acar, Berkay Yavuz, Erdem Kosova, Erol Malhatun, Feride Pomen, Henüz Başarır, Serkan Duman, Süel Acar (Gelibolu), Doğan Ateş, Gizem Yeşil, Gönül Başaran, Mehmet İrfan Mutluay, Kadir Erkoyun, Metin Ümit Ural, Murat Atakan Tenk, Nazmiye Gök, Nursevim Azap, Rebiye Turan Ünüvar, Süleyman Erte, and Şenay Cancanoğlu.

'MAY EVERYONE'S PATH BE CLEAR'

CHP Provincial Chair Levent Gürbüz stated that the disciplinary process began months ago. Stating that the names against whom disciplinary proceedings were initiated in line with the decision taken by the Central Executive Board were referred to the Provincial Disciplinary Board, and that the Provincial Disciplinary Board's decision was subsequently approved by the High Disciplinary Board,

Gürbüz spoke as follows:

“As provincial and district administrations, we have no involvement in any stage of this decision. I also believe the decision made is correct. I believe that the disciplinary process must be operated in the face of such behavior. Because there are thousands of people working heart and soul within the party. A few people behaving this way and going unpunished hurts and saddens our hardworking party members and friends. For this reason, I believe a disciplinary action is essential.”

Gürbüz also added, “As is known, these names had protested the Party Assembly's candidate determination decision. After the mayoral candidates were announced, their protest actions both here and in Ankara were accepted as a disciplinary offense. We, as an organization, did not wage a war for these friends to be expelled; we did not express an opinion either in Ankara or at the Provincial Disciplinary Board. Our disciplinary boards gave an expulsion penalty, and we will respect this. May everyone's path be clear. The reasoned decisions have not arrived yet” he stated.

THEY HAD PROTESTED DURING THE ELECTION PERIOD

After Ülgür Gökhan, who had been the mayor in Çanakkale for 22 years, did not run again, former Deputy Chairman Muharrem Erkek, Deputy Mayor İrfan Mutluay, Municipal Council Group Deputy Chair Erdal Gezen, and businessperson Mehmet Öngen became candidate nominees in the March 31 elections.

While three candidates requested a primary election, the CHP Party Assembly announced former Deputy Chairman Lawyer Muharrem Erkek as the Çanakkale mayoral candidate. Upon this, candidate nominee İrfan Mutluay, along with his team, first held a march in Çanakkale and then walked to Ankara. Mutluay, who made a statement in front of the CHP Headquarters, also held a series of meetings at the Headquarters.

Following this process, immediately after the elections, many names, including Mutluay and his team, who were stated to have carried out activities against the party on social media, were referred to the disciplinary board.
