25 people to appear in court on June 23 in terror investigation
In a terror investigation involving municipalities, 25 people, including former mayors and deputy mayors, will appear in court on June 23.
The date for the first hearing of the case opened in Istanbul against CHP-affiliated municipalities, on allegations of 'providing financing to the terrorist organization DHKP-C' through municipal tenders, has been set. The first hearing date for the case, in which 25 people are being tried, has been announced as June 23.
An indictment had been prepared against 25 suspects, including former Şişli Mayor Hayri İnönü, former Sarıyer Mayor Şükrü Genç, and Emir Sarıgül.
In the indictment prepared by the Istanbul Chief Public Prosecutor's Office, 25 people are listed as "suspects," including former Sarıyer Mayor Şükrü Genç, former Şişli Mayor Hayri İnönü, former Ataşehir Deputy Mayor Abdullah Der, former Şişli Deputy Mayor Emir Sarıgül, former Şişli Deputy Mayor Erdoğan Yıldız, former Maltepe Deputy Mayor Haydar Battal, former Ataşehir Deputy Mayor Kalender Özdemir, former Şişli Deputy Mayor Mehrali Seçme, and Manisa Şehzadeler Deputy Mayor Melih Morsümbül, who was previously a Maltepe Deputy Mayor.
DEMAND FOR UP TO 15 YEARS IN PRISON
In the indictment, it was requested that the suspects be sentenced to between 7 years and 6 months and 15 years in prison on charges of "providing financing for terrorism."
