A game-changing statement from Şamil Tayyar: 'It could shift all the balances'

Former AKP MP and former MKYK member Şamil Tayyar shared his assessments regarding the election process in a post on his social media account. Arguing that political analyses are largely conducted based on the parliamentary system, Tayyar stated that dynamics function differently under the Presidential Government System.

Expressing that the factors influencing voter preferences in presidential and parliamentary elections differ from one another, Tayyar emphasized that different political balances come to the fore in both elections.

Arguing that the fragmentation and disarray among parties might not have the same effect in a presidential election, Tayyar assessed, 'The alliance that emerges in the presidential election could upend all calculations. If multi-part structures reach a consensus on a single candidate, all the negative effects of fragmentation can be neutralized. Under current conditions, what matters is not the individual parties, but the alliances and the joint candidate.'

I would like to share this observation of mine.

I see that as we approach the election, the political algorithm is being coded more according to the parliamentary system.

However, the determining factors of the new system are very different.

For one thing, there are two separate choices at the ballot box.

In the presidential election, the spectrum of the alliance and the candidate are just as important as party representation.

In the parliamentary election, however, only the weight of the party is the priority.

Naturally, the fragmentation in the spectrum is directly related to parliamentary arithmetic, but the alliance that emerges in the presidential election could upend all calculations.

In other words.

The division, fragmentation, and disarray of parties may have little role in the election of the new president.

The “joint candidate” plan is more decisive.

In other words, if multi-part structures reach a consensus on a single candidate, all the negative effects of fragmentation can be neutralized.

My personal opinion;

Under current conditions, what matters is not the individual parties, but the alliances and the joint candidate.
